Was building the Great Wall a good idea?

The construction of the Great Wall of China was a good idea because it kept invaders out of the newly found country and saved countless lives because of the protection it provided. The invention of the Great wall was a great idea protection wise because it kept out the invaders to the north. These invaders to the north were a very strong power named the Mongols. The Mongols were a great threat to the civilization because they ended up growing to be the largest empire in the history of the world that was lead by Genghis Khan. The Great Wall would hold out the intruders for many years until about the 1700s when the Mongols Swept over the country and continued to begin a dynasty named the Yuan Dynasty. It was also a very well thought out idea because of the people and the Chinese civilization of China. This was a reason it was a good idea was because even though many people died in the main of the wall from the labor, it saved the over 500,000 people from being attacked by the Mongolian invaders and other people that were a threat to the newly unified country.
